About hydroseeding and its benefits
Hydroseeding allows the seeding of grass or virtually any erosion control seed. These include native grasses, wildflowers, roadside mixes, erosion control mixes, shade grass seed, sports field mixes and pasture mixes. Hydroseeding mulch helps keep the soil moist so that seeds can germinate quickly. The hydroseed contains the seed mixture, a fertiliser, a sticking agent and a colourant and is sprayed onto the soil. The spray can be transported by truck or helicopter. Fluotechnik offers colouring services and provides specific shades of green to meet customer needs.
Hydroseeding, compared to dry seeding, allows for faster germination, better seed-to-soil contact, uniform application, better moisture retention and is easier to maintain in difficult areas such as hillsides. Hydroseeding is less expensive than laying sod and requires less watering than sod.
