About Pond Dyes
Pond dyes should be used in the spring for effective control of algae and plants.
Application is easy: simply pour the dye into the pond. It will dissolve and spread throughout the water. The first application in spring will start to fade after a few months, sometimes sooner.

The color fades due to biodegradation and dilution by rainwater. Additional applications will help the pond maintain the desired blue color. The color prevents the growth of algae and aquatic plants late in the summer by blocking sunlight from reaching the deeper waters and starting plant germination. Our pond dyes are made from food-grade dyes and can be used in ponds used for fishing, swimming, or livestock watering.
